Help Peace
Build a Habitat House
Those who
worked on the Habitat project last year still haven’t stopped talking
about it – so Peace is participating again. Our work day for this year is Tuesday, July 7th. Our team “foreman” is Lonnie
Frederick. Hours are approximately 7:30am to 3:30pm. The location of the
Habitat neighborhood is off Mack Street, a few blocks south of the Grosse
Pointes, on Detroit’s east side. It is a 35 minutes drive via I 94. As
this year’s Thrivent Build House will be raised by the framing team on
June 8th – look for photos in the church parlor after then. When our
team’s day arrives, it will need flooring, and primer painting. So if you
can commit to the full day, and are skilled, or willing to learn on the
job, the sign-up sheet is now in the parlor. Please sign the chart, and
fill out a
Worker commitment form' (click here) also in the parlor which will be faxed
to Habitat prior to our work day.
Thanks to the
Peace Women for their $200 in support of our Habitat team. If you would
like to be involved, but cannot work the entire day, would you consider
working in the “hospitality tent” which includes organizing a lunch for
the workers, and serving it at the sight about 11:30am. This is also
considered as an important donation to Habitat, saving them the expense of
feeding each day’s team. Please indicate this on the sign-up sheet, as
well.
For more
information, Dan Dickhudt will be at our church on June 14th
with some people from Habitat to provide information about this year’s
build and Thrivent’s commitment to Habitat.
